SC1337's Chaining Guide!
First off: Get LOTS of repels. At least 500+ Super or 300+ Max repels. Good. Now pick a chainable target. Great.
Preparation: Spray a repel, go to pokeradar app 20, and go to the middle of a tall grass square. Ideally, the square is pretty large with no holes. Good. Now save the game.

BASIC RULES OF CHAINING:
This^ is important.
Consider "0" where you use the pokeradar. Now, certain patches will appear. Common patches just shake. Rare patches have white spots on them. Shiny patches(patches with shinies in them) glitter twice. When you first use your radar, patches will appear. Go into either a rare or common, your choice. However, remember what patch you chose. I recommend common patches. Now, after you choose one, if you go into the other one, your chain will auto-break. Remember that now. Here is the important part: Look at the chart above. ONLY go into one of the 4s. ALWAYS. With that said, don't go into a patch adjacent to you. Only go in a patch when 4 patches total shake. Don't go into patches at the end of all of the grass. When you use your radar, be careful going straight up. Your head blocks the patch directly above you. If 4 patches shake, there will be one in the 1 section, one in the 2, etc. If a shiny patch ever appears: GO IN IT!. The goal of chaining is to get to chain 40. At 40, your odds of getting a shiny patch is 1/204. This is a GREAT improving from 1/8192. So those are the basics. You will learn more as you progress, as only experience can teach. If you use the radar, and no good patches appear, you have to run 50 steps and use it again. Spray repels every time one fades. Sometimes, even if you follow all rules, the chain will break. You can tell by looking at app 20. Where it usually shows (Pokemon:#chain) it will be blank. Enjoy your shinies!
